This is a battery similar to which constructed Alejandro Volta.

Materials:
- a lemon
- a copper strip
- a zinc strip
- a voltmeter
- two cables with paper clip cayman jaw

We take the lemon and we inserted the two metal strips (it receives and zinc) in interio having taken care of which they are not touched. Using the multimeter or voltmeter the voltage produced between both metal strips is moderate (figure 1). It would have almost to be of a volt.
In order to demonstrate that this device can produce some work it is possible that we feel attemped to connect a small center, but will not ignite because the current is very weak. In order to make a demonstration equipment of low consumption of current as a clock can be used that works with solar cells, a calculator, etc. Simply takes off the battery or the solar cell and the terminals of the strips of copper and zinc are connected. We must remember that and receives is the positive pole and the zinc the negative.
Volta constructed the first battery, according to his own description, preparing certain number of zinc and copper discs along with soaked cardboard discs in a salt water dissolution. Later he piled up these discs beginning by anyone of the metalists, for example one of copper, and on this one one of zinc, on which he placed one of wet discs and later one of copper, and so on until forming a column or “pounds”. When connecting some metallic strips to both ends were able to obtain sparks.
