Solar kitchens Prototype

VERY SIMPLE

This prototype of solar kitchen is of material of 0,7 mm in thickness Anocoil aluminum that has the quality of the mirror and some steel tubes. The reflector is opened as a parasol, because each segment turns in center. Around the edge there is a rubber band that unites it. The aluminum of 0,7 mm is a little thin to support its own weight so that it shakes in center. In order to avoid this we placed a support in the part of down. The second kitchen designed from the book ‘Cooking with the Sun: How to Solar Build and Use Cookers’ by Beth and Dan Halacy. Although we took a little in constructing it was much more efficient. The reflector became of 24 cardboard pieces placed in radial form each 15 degrees. Each one of the 24 elements reflectors stick with tape to the ribs. The box and the reflectors are of 1m x 1m. The efficiency and stability are very good. In a sunny day it is easy to make boil Popes and fry sausages. In order to verify the focal point we placed a newspaper that caught fire in seconds. The only problem is that at time of rain, with enough humidity and after some months in the garage, the cardboard lies down to lose its form.

 

 

 

 

This model is more stable and simple to construct, in addition to efficient. The principle of the “wine box is used? to assure the cardboard by the inner part and thus to create the required form so that the reflector fits inside. This is a small version of 50cm x 50cm. The reflector the same has spherical form with a radius of 25cm (to the dimensions of the box) consequently an almost parabolic form with a focal point to 25cm of the reflector is obtained.
